Praying For Our Families || Day 28

Prayer Focus: Health

Central Scripture: “I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you.” (3 John 1:2)

Prayer:

Gracious Father, I thank You for the way that You have made our bodies. Even when we don’t feel well or are having health issues, our bodies are so perfectly intricate and show the masterful design of Your hand. You are a wonderful Creator, and I am continually in awe of the way that You have knit us together.

Lord, today I pray for the health of my family. With so many other things that seem more “spiritually urgent,” it seems strange to bring this need to You. The truth, though, is that when we are unwell, it is hard to think about much else. So I ask You today to strengthen the bodies of my husband and children. Shield them from disease and illness, and help them to do their part to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I pray for the proper functioning of all their bodily systems. I pray that from the smallest cells to the most complex organs, their bodies would do their jobs to keep them in good health.

The reality is that they will get sick sometimes, God, in major and minor ways. I pray that when those unwell days come,  my husband and children would continue to lean on You for strength. No matter what may be diagnosed or treated, I pray against despair and frustration. I pray for hope and encouragement and peace. Let their journey through illnesses big and small be an indication to the watching world of where their hope is.

But God, I really do ask You to keep my family healthy. You know how anxious I get and how hard it is for me when there is illness in our home. By Your grace, please grant my family good health, and let us be thankful for every day that we feel good.

Amen.
